Six allied nations launch concept stage of NGRC project

Six allied nations have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to start the idea stage of the future-era rotorcraft capability (NGRC) venture.

Participants in the task are the United kingdom, Italy, Germany, France, Greece and the Netherlands.

The MoU was signed by representatives and ministers of the respective nations during a Nato Defence Ministerial assembly in Brussels, Belgium on 16 June.

The nations have also committed about $27.77m (€26.7m) for the NGRC task.

The NGRC thought phase will offer a basis for the allied nations to produce and industry the upcoming generation of helicopters.

This strategy stage will be executed by Nato Assistance and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on behalf of the participating nations.

The project aims to modernise and check out ground breaking options for helicopter fleets of allied nations. A letter of intent (LoI) was signed in November 2020 to start the task.
